17th Annual National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses Sportsman-Legislator Summit which will be held on December 8th and 9th 2021 (registration information HERE).
Traditionally an in-person event, this year’s Summit will be held virtually through a combination of webinars and Zoom meetings. Additionally, we are also offering a FREE registration option for this year’s gathering that we hope you will consider taking advantage of. As an added incentive, the first 250 attendees to register (regardless of registration level) will receive an additional entry into the door prize drawing that features several great prizes.
The Summit is the largest gathering of pro-sportsmen legislators that occurs each year. This event provides the bipartisan group of sportsmen-legislators – representing states across the nation – with the opportunity to learn from a wide array of state and federal natural resource agencies, allied non-governmental conservation organizations, and industries concerned with the future of our nation's outdoor heritage. The meeting is also an opportunity for legislators to discuss issues impacting the sportsmen's conservation community and to share information relevant to America's hunters, anglers, recreational shooters, and trappers. The theme for this year’s event is 2020: A Clear Vision for Enhancing Access, Opportunities, and #ResponsibleRecreation, and the agenda will feature a wide array of topics including: conservation funding, wildlife disease issues, hunting and fishing access discussions, and more. We have a great slate of speakers lined up for this event, and we sincerely hope you will join us.
Additional information on the agenda, speakers, and registration can be found on the event website at www.NASCSummit.org.
To our valued supporters, We regret to report that our Annual Midnight Sun Charity Shoot, originally scheduled for 18 July 2020 is officially cancelled this year. After careful consideration of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, associated impact on travel, schedules, and sponsorship availability, and with respect to the health and safety of all participants, we have decided to replace this year’s Midnight Sun Charity Shoot with other opportunities for fundraising and connection. As President of the Outdoor Heritage Foundation, it would have been my pleasure to welcome you to our 2020 Shoot. However, after consulting with sponsors, hosts, celebrity shooters, volunteers, and participants, our Board arrived at the difficult decision to focus on ensuring a premier event in 2021, and to utilize other fundraising avenues for 2020, including online outreach, and a modified shoot event. On behalf of our Board of Directors, we appreciate the generous support of our many sponsors, honorary hosts, partners, volunteers, and competitors. A hearty thank you to our major sponsors who have already indicated their desire to support these efforts by rolling over their 2020 donations to 2021 and to support additional donations for our idea to hold an event providing prizes for an adjusted event designed to allow shooting teams to submit their scores from their own locales with the certification of their local range master. Our intent is to have competitors participate on teams at corporate or household levels in addition to individual shooters who could win prizes and recognition for such categories as: rifle, pistol, shotgun, team, individual, youth, new shooter, etc. We are currently discussing logistics with local ranges and range masters. We would love to have you be part of this inaugural event. We are actively seeking sponsors to make this event a reality. Please let us know if you are able to contribute prizes of any size to assist this effort – we will use them! Also mark your calendars for our Sportsmen’s Rendezvous, Friday November 6th & Saturday November 7th in Anchorage, Alaska. Each year this is a fantastic opportunity for educational presentations, forums, and fruitful conversations with outdoor leaders, our major sponsors, and elected officials who are part of the Outdoor Heritage Caucus. We welcome your ideas to make this year’s Rendezvous a spectacular event & we chose the time frame following the general election to incorporate dialogue with our elected officials. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of conservation management and outdoor education in Alaska. I am available directly for any questions, suggestions, or of course donations! All the best, Jennifer Yuhas, President
