Alaska Outdoor Kids! (A-OK!) encompasses several programs the OHFA provides for Alaskan Youth.  Under the A-OK! banner, the OHFA and ADF&G conduct several youth programs in conjunction with the Alaska Friends of NRA, SCI Alaska Chapter, SCI Kenai Chapter, Ruffed Grouse Society, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Alaska Bowhunter Association and the Wild Turkey Federation.  These programs are also only made possible due to the generous support from our sponsors at our annual fundraiser, the Midnight Sun Charity Shoot.

Kids Outdoor Camp – Held for the first time in 2009, the camp was a big hit.  Two days are spent at Rabbit Creek Range and one day was spent fishing at Cheney Lake.  Youth are introduced to various outdoor skills which will assist them in becoming more active outdoors and give them a greater appreciation of the conservation principles necessary for sustainable resource use.

Youth Shooting LeagueYouth Shooting League at Rabbit Creek Shooting Park teaches young Alaskans proficient skills that will allow them to compete in sporting clays and enjoy many days a-field in the pursuit of small game. This program is supported by SCI Alaska Chapter and the Alaska Friends of NRA.

Youth Education SummitYouth Education Summit is held each year in April. This program is sponsored by the Alaska Friends of NRA and offers students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades a chance to go to Juneau and learn about their state government. Each year one student is chosen from the group to represent Alaska at the national level in Washington D.C.

Small Game Hunting ClinicsOHFA offers Small Game Hunting Clinics for youth and women, especially those youth who may not be in a position to experience this kind of outdoor activity otherwise. We attempt to have at least four small game hunting clinics for youth and possibly one Beyond BOW small game hunt each year. This program is made possible by a grant from the Alaska Friends of NRA.

Alaska Conservation CampThe Alaska Conservation Camp provides a comprehensive learning experience for Alaska’s youth. Held in late May and throughout June, the camp is also supported by ADF&G, the Alaska Friends of NRA, and AIM-COMM.
